Blind Walking exercise (15’)

Two people in a group, one person with their eyes closed, and another person guide them.

Keep your partner safe! Grab them in their elbows or shoulders.

Each walk for around 7 minutes, and then rotate.

Pick a location or a walk through, record the following to best capture what’s in the environment

Each of you records:

  1. At least 1 recording of 1 minutes in one location or walking through a place (when you are blindfolded) (use the zoom recorder built in mic)
  2. At least 4 isolated naturally occurring or manually occurring sounds (each could be a few seconds, make sure to wait a little bit more after it ends) - of an object or action. (could be wind, tree, birds, yourself touching stuff, sink… etc)

swap, the leader and the blind eye shielded swap roles. the two route don’t need to be the same

After you come back, pair up again in different ways, listen to each others’ audio, point out the interesting things to each others’ recording, and tell each other what’s the experience with the zoom recorder, what have you found?
