Medium is MY Message

Marshal Mcluhan has a famous saying: “The medium is the message”, which means the medium through which information is transmitted is just as important, if not more so, than the content of the message itself.

Create a minimum 3 minutes video or installation that demonstrate any of the following:

What does video as a medium different from other medium you encounter? How do you take this medium and use it to tell something that “only video can tells”?
What does video as a medium change your message you are conveying?
What is the message that only you can tell?
How does video change your way of perceiving the world?

Your project should demonstrate the unique characteristics of your chosen medium, and the concept of your piece should be able to answer the question: why is it made with this media?

The project is graded based on the following aspects

Experimentation (20%) : what new things you have tried with your video
Completion(40%) : The craftsmanship, the technical details
Conceptual Consistency(10%) : The depth of the concept of the piece as well as whether your choice of medium and techniques fit with your concept.
Sincerity (10%): if you are willing to be honest with yourself.

Small DDLs

raw material and proposal due: at least 5 clips of the potential materials, shot test, sketches or style test you want to work on + your proposal on your concept and your rough timeline
Rough Cut: 80% of your video is done
